Sunday Night Sittings, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
We practice in the tradition of Zen Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh. We are peer-facilitated and volunteer run, without a formal teacher or leader. We generally meet every Sunday, including holidays. Any (rare) cancellations will be announced on the home page of this website, as well as on our email listserve and Facebook page (click here for more info.) Generally, one may expect some combination of:
- Mindful Stretching
- Sitting Meditation
- Walking Meditation
- Mindful Tea
- Dharma Reading or Study
- Community Sharing
Beginners and newcomers are welcome. We operate on a drop-in, optional-donation basis, and we strive to be accessible for all. We have limited sitting cushions and mats, so please bring your own (pillow, sitting cushion, yoga mat, yoga block etc) if you are able to.
Location: Building Caring Communities/Possibilities, 251 E 11th Ave., just east of Main Street, close to Kingsway Ave, in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada).
The venue is very close to Main Street and Broadway, which can be accessed via many bus routes, both on Broadway (#99 B-line Express or #9 Broadway), or on Main (#3 Main), or on Kingsway (#19 Metrotown/Stanley Park), or on Fraser (#8 Fraser/Downtown). Skytrain stations are a bus away (Main Street Science World -#3/#8/#19), or (Commercial Broadway – #9/99), or (Broadway-City Hall – #9/99).
After the sitting, we sometimes enjoy an informal meal together at a nearby restaurant.
